Oct 20 Update: Microsoft has released a second update for Office 2011 (Update 14.5.7) which some users are reporting breaks Office again! For some of those that have installed it, Outlook keeps crashing again. If the update does not work for you, the fixes below are still worth trying. You can download it from Microsoft directly or use Microsoft AutoUpdate in Office to update it automatically. Oct 7 Update: Microsoft has now released a fix for Office 2011 crashing in El Capitan (Update 14.5.6). If it doesn’t work for you and you’re desperate for your Outlook mail, remember you can still use the web version of Outlook and Office 365. The problems with Office 2016 and Office 2011 have been so bad that we’ve dealt with fixes to problems with Office 2016 crashes in El Capitan here.
